Federal Polytechnic Oko has inducted fresh students at her 39th matriculation ceremony.

Speaking at the matriculation ceremony, the Rector, Engr. Dr Francisca  Nwafulugo who formally admitted the students, warned them to avoid any form of thuggery, cultism, examination malpractice and other social vices.

She further urged the students to pursue excellence and seek ways of becoming creative in order to add value.
“There is a need to remind you that your primary assignment here is to study and to successfully graduate in your chosen course of study. It is imperative that you give it your best and the only way to achieve that is by being studious. You have to work hard”
The Rector, while welcoming the new students,  expressed joy  that the students were able to pass through the hurdles of admission process and assured them of conducive environment for teaching and learning.

“I am delighted to welcome all our students who are matriculating today; you may have passed through challenges and difficulties before gaining admission as  undergraduates however, I wish to congratulate you for taking a bold step in order to achieve your dreams and today you are officially being inducted into the Federal Polytechnic Oko as  undergraduates”.
“There are many things that may distract you and make you lose focus. You must resist them. You have to remain focus to achieve your dreams. Make friends with students that will inspire and motivate you into becoming the best. Avoid thuggery, cultism, examination malpractice and indecent dressing”  the Rector said.

Engr. Dr. Nwafulugo implored the students to commit themselves to academic excellence, moral rectitude and good character, adding that the polytechnic is positioned to offer them quality and impactful academic experience.
“Being a polytechnic Institution we aim at raising individuals who will not only be brainy but who could also be productive with their hands. Maximize the facilities in this institution to turn your potentials into skill that could be valuable and marketable. I encourage you not to give up.

The Rector ceased the opportunity to draw attention to the exceptional academic performance of Miss Ifeoma Amuche who was a student of Federal Polytechnic Oko and later proceeded to China to study Chinese language in a university where she emerged best graduating student. She urged the matriculating students to emulate her.

The matriculation vow was later administered by the Deputy Registrar of the Polytechnic incharge of personnel, Dr. Blessing Asuzu. The event attracted principal officers of the Polytechnic , the clergy, Deans, Directors,  Heads of departments and other guests.
